This past week practice began, in full, at the FC Milwaukee Soccer Fields. For the first time in our clubs history, we ran back to back to back practices. For the first time in our history, we ran practices on fields that we own. For the first time in our history, we ran practices on fields that had all of the following: lines, goals, extra goals, lights and last but certainly not least, we ran practice on fields where the ball always roles true.

Director of Coaching Peter Knezic
“This is a dream come true. Facilities do not make the player but they certainly don’t hurt. Our players now have the advantage of surfaces and facilities that make learning easier and skill development enhanced. This is huge boost for player development.”

U.S. SOCCER FOUNDATION AWARDS FC MILWAUKEE $200,000 GRANT
Mar 20 2009 - HG

The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Major Charitable Arm of Soccer in the United
States, announced Monday that it has awarded FC Milwaukee with a $200,000 FieldTurf Field Grant as part of its 15th annual grants program.

Through its history, the Foundation has made nearly $51 million available to groups in all 50 states to support the growth of soccer in the U.S. Since the first grants were made in the spring of 1995, the Foundation has issued almost 600 awards to groups large and small in every corner of the nation.

This year, the Foundation awarded five field grants for the construction of full-size Field Turf soccer fields that that are durable, and can be used in all weather conditions.

“The Foundation supports projects that focus on keeping kids active, healthy and engaged in activities that provide an alternative to negative influences,” said Ed Foster-Simeon, President of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “We believe that soccer fosters a child's development as both an athlete on the field of play and as a young adult in the game of life and are committed to making sure each child has opportunities to succeed.”

How Can I help?

VISION

The FC Milwaukee Soccer Club will set a new standard for premier Wisconsin youth soccer. With a state-of-the-art facility to match the high quality training that our children receive, we guarantee our ability to provide the highest quality environment to train youth players and attract the very best talent from Wisconsin. Highlighted by 9 Regional Championships and one national champion at the U20 age group in 2001, FC Milwaukee has a record of 130 State Championships. With 150 players in State’s Olympic Development Program, 53 on Midwest Regional teams, 12 on Youth National teams, 2 on full National Teams and 7 professional players FC demonstrates a reputation of successful payers. FC Milwaukee has placed over 315 players into college soccer programs. FC Milwaukee has been a stepping stone to the highest levels of soccer in the country and wishes to elevate our standard of excellence to compete even more successfully at the Midwest Regional level.

REALITY

We are fortunate to have Uihlein Soccer Park, our current practice site. While Uihlein meets our needs for now, we need high quality game and practice fields to meet our needs into the future. Uihlein cannot provide high quality fields for premier games, tournaments, night use, and all weather play. Moreover, Brown Deer Park’s commitment to the Club is on a year-to-year basis, subject to other demands on County parks. The new FC Milwaukee Soccer Complex will enhance the mission and goals of the club as the premier youth club in Wisconsin.
It will offer:

66 acres of land in Germantown located between Donges Bay Road and County Line Road on Fond du Lac Avenue.

Nine Competition level fields with state-of-art drainage, irrigation and parking.

Two lighted turf fields for all weather and night use are a high priority.

Clubhouse, concessions, restrooms, storage and pavilions are a long-term goal.

COMMITMENT

We expect that the new FC Milwaukee Soccer Complex will cost five million dollars in its ultimate build-out. Establishing the FC Milwaukee Soccer Complex will require capital support from committed donors. Various levels of sponsorship and donor recognition are available at the facility. A limited number of naming opportunities for fields and the park will be available for individuals, corporations and foundations that wish to make more significant donations. FC Milwaukee can provide high profile visibility regionally and nationally for donors through events at the park and other sites. Groundbreaking is planned for Spring 2008.
